The Importance of Hydration

The Importance of Hydration

Staying properly hydrated is important for your energy, smooth digestion, muscle function and recovery, and mental clarity.

Being adequately hydrated allows cells to receive sufficient oxygen in order to perform their necessary function. Consequently, you will feel more alert and energized as a result of providing your body what it needs.

As a considerable amount of your body is composed of water, you need to make sure to replenish any significant water loss be it from sweating or urinating.

The body uses a fair amount of water in the digestion process, so it is important to make sure you are properly hydrated for optimal digestion.

After a long nights’ sleep your body has gone hours without much hydration, so drinking water and eating high water content foods in the morning can really help to ease digestion and start your body off on the right foot.

Being hydrated will provide you with more energy to begin your day. And starting your morning off right can make the whole day just that much more enjoyable!

At least a half-litre of water is a good starting recommendation to drink first thing in the morning as well as before you go to bed at night.

Sipping your water over 15-20 minutes can help to hydrate you more efficiently and effectively, rather than chugging the water down all at once as your body is better able to utilise it.

Making sure you’re urinating fairly clear numerous times throughout the day is a good way to make sure you are staying hydrated.

Going to the bathroom shouldn’t be painful, and staying hydrated plays a considerable part in this. If your urine feels at all acidic or it is painful to go, be sure to re-hydrate yourself after your visit to the bathroom.

So, drink up and stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day!

  • I always drink SOOOO much water when I wake up. It baffles me that people can wake up and just start their day without drinking water – I’m always so thirsty!
