Oil-Free Vegan Hummus

Unlike most varieties you’ll find in the store that are high in fat, this No Oil Hummus Recipe from Cooking With Plants is made with just beans, lemon juice, a bit of tahini, and some spices.

Because you don’t need oil to make a good hummus.


  • chickpeas (and liquid)
  • cannellini beans
  • lemon juice
  • tahini
  • spices: garlic, cumin, white pepper, sea salt (optional)

Note: You can adjust the amount of tahini and salt to suit your preferences if you’d like an even lower fat or sodium version.

Top your hummus off with a dash of paprika for a bit of colour.

Then maybe add an extra handful of chickpeas as well, especially if you’re looking for a bit more varied texture and “crunch” to your hummus.
